Agouti is a rodent which lives in Central and South America’s forests. It is able to crack the hard macadamia nuts. At times, Agouti “forgets” the open nuts in the ground in favor of a later meal. These open macadamia nuts grow to trees and thus Agouti disperses the nut trees and contributes to the renewal of the forests.
Due to the ability of Agouti to deal with tough nuts and using nature’s resources while ensuring its renewal for future generations, Agouti was chosen as the name and symbol for “Agouti Environment”. “Agouti Environment” believes that sustainable development is possible with a lot of hard work and good will even though it is a tough nut to crack.
